Museum of the Great Plains Fort Sill Museum Percussive Arts Society Museum Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. The 60,000 acre refuge is maintained by the National Wildlife Refuge System in a wild and natural condition. The Holy City of the Wichitas is located within the Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge. The Holy City consist of 110 acres and 22 buildings constructed around 1936 of native granite stones. The nations longest running Easter passion play is held here outdoors annually on the Saturday before Easter. The 5,600 acre Lake Ellsworth is located 14 miles north of Lawton and has some of the best fishing in the state. Lawtonka has 2,398 surface acres and is located about 10 miles northwest of Lawton. There are several designated hunting and trapping areas on the City of Lawton lake property. |
