Sallisaw is located in Sequoyah County (of which it is the county seat) east of Oklahoma City between Brushy and Cowlington along  Highway 59 on the banks of the Arkansas River near Sequoyah Wildlife Refuge.

Fourteen Flags Museum
Oklahoma's history under fourteen different nations. General store, 1800s  cabin, caboose, cattle brand collection. Open daily. Closed Christmas. Group tours by appointment; handicapped  accessible; motorcoach parking. Donations accepted.

Robert S. Kerr Lake
Seven miles S on hwy-59. 43,800 surface acres and 250 miles of shoreline.Well-known as a haven for anglers; waterfowl hunting in nearby areas is  considered among the best in the state. Campground open year round. Boat ramps/docks.

Sallislaw State Park at Brushy Lake
The park is located eight miles north of Sallisaw on Hwy 59.Its features and facilities include ninety park acres, the three hundred-acre Brushy Lake, thirty-five campsites with semi-modern hookups available, boating,  fishing, picnic facilities, and a playground with a horseshoe area.

Dwight Prebyterian Mission
This 1829 cabin was the first mission in Oklahoma; now on a vocational school  campus. Original items include printing equipment used by the Sequoyah.By appointemnt. Closed major holidays. Group tours; motorcoach parking. Donations accepted.

Sequoyah's Home Site
The log cabin of Sequoyah, inventor of the Cherokee syllabary. Cherokee  history and the basics of Cherokee language are taught to visitors.Open Tues thru Sats and Sunday afternoons. Closed holidays. Group tours by appointment; handicapped accessible; motorcoach parking. Donations accepted.
